Pull my finger yanked rejected from app store
It seems apple is trying to stem the flood of semi useful apps on the iphone…
The app in question is called “Pull my Finger”. I think we are all intelligent enough to figure out what it does so I won’t explain. The interesting thing about this app is that it was rejected from the app store. Not because it was obscene but because it has limited utility… Following is the email sent to the dev:
“Hello Developer,
We’ve reviewed your application Pull My Finger. We have determined that this application is of limited utility to the broad iPhone and iPod touch user community, and will not be published to the App Store.
It may be very appropriate to share with friends and family, and we recommend you review the Ad Hoc method on the Distribution tab of the iPhone Developer Portal for details on distributing this application among a small group of people of your choosing.

Now this is a slippery slope. Who gets to choose what is useful and to whom?? Personally I have no use for these flashlight apps, I don’t know a single person that has one installed. Yet the app store is inundated with them. Some are free, some are not. If I need to use my iphone like a flashlight I just go to the brightness screen and turn it up and leave it on that screen until i’m done.
The fact is, there is nothing like this app on the app store. So why not allow at least this one app? Then they could see how popular it is from the downloads. If it didn’t do well then they wouldn’t allow any other ones.
What do you guys think about this?
How would you feel if you worked on an app and were rejected like that?
